Somewhere off of Puget Sound in Washington, the forest here is incredible.

It's a little blurry because this picture was taken through the window at my hotel the last night in Portland. Just wanted to show my awesome view of downtown.

Multnomah Falls in the Columbia River Gorge, Oregon.

There is water everywhere here, I guess that's why they call it a rainforest...

Waterfalls have always fascinated me, I think it's because I come from Arizona, but Multnomah Falls have been my favorite thing that I have seen on this entire trip. Unfortunately the observation deck at the top was closed because the foundation was crumbling from all of the water.

An older gentleman offered to take the picture for me (The one below I set up on a rock with the time) I don't think he quite understood that I was trying to get one of me with the entire waterfall. It was a nice gesture though.

This tree had a couple of gallons of water standing in it, there was lots of moss and some tadpoles in the water, pretty cool.

This is where I woe up this morning, last night I was surrounded by raccoons, one even tried to steal the cheese for my hamburgers when I went to the tent to grab a sweater, sneaky little bandits.

The creek at the bottom explains why there were so many raccoons.

Oregon's coast and Portland

 Heading North

In the rainforest.
Steel Bridge, probably not the most magnificent piece of American architecture, but seems to do the job.

Another shot of the not so magnificent bridge from the west bank.

I've crossed about 15 draw bridges since I've gotten into Oregon and I still haven't seen one open.

The 100th Portland Rose Convention is going on so I found this fitting.

Northern California and Southern Oregon have been great, taken so many pictures of amazing landscape. On to Newport tonight and then into Portland tomorrow.

In the eel river in Redwoods State Park, CA.

Peach Tea made in a Beaver Street Brewery Growler, they're not just for holding beer anymore.

Eureka, CA.

Downtown, Eureka, CA.

Redwoods State Park, CA.

Redwoods National Park, CA.

This elk heard apparently lives in this grove year round, though there are no fences. They are about half  the size of the elk you see in Flagstaff.

Coming over the dunes on the southern part of the Oregon Coast, California has nothing on Oregon's coast.

Oregon.

The bridge from Humbug Mountain State Park, Oregon.

Riding the coast just south of Port Orford, Oregon. This was my favorite place on the coast that I have ridden.

As I make my way north, almost out of California I took a lunch break in Eureka. A cool little coastal town with a nice downtown area, I stopped at a beachside oyster bar for lunch and met a lady who has her own marijuana farm, I guess you would call it. She told me all about the process and how she has permits to legally grow it! I think my favorite part of this trip is all the interesting people I have been meeting. When I was in San Francisco I met 3 girls from Minnesota and had some great conversation over the best Italian food I have had in a long time. I also met three Hungarian guys on a road trip across the US to celebrate their 40th birthdays. They had all been in Flagstaff just a week before which gave us a lot to talk about. In two days I’ll be in Portland to hang out with some old friends that I haven’t seen since high school and I’m sure I will meet a lot of interesting people while I’m there.
When I was at lunch today the older lady who owned the restaurant wrote down directions to the nudist beach just north of Eureka, she made me promise that I would go on my way out of town, so I guess that is my next stop, whether or not I will get out of my car is still to be determined.
So far I have had lots of laughs and met a lot of great people and I still have a lot of places to go, I look forward to seeing where the road will take me.

Again the internet is slow here so I don't get to upload as many pictures as I would like, but I'm keeping them so I can as soon as I get a chance.

In Humboldt County and the Redwood Forest this is how I imagined my trip going from the beginning. Northern California is a much needed improvement in people and lifestyle. Everything here is much more laid back and similar to Flagstaff. I have a lot more pictures of the Redwood forest but my internet is really slow hear so I'll wait until I get back to civilization...

Hopefully this sunset over the redwoods will hold you over till next time.
creek running into the south fork of the eel river, right behind my camp ground.
